Theater Utrecht is the city company of Utrecht and is one of the leading theater companies in the Netherlands. We bring highlights and classics from the world of theater and literature and put them into challenging, disruptive and inspired performances. We see the theater as the most suitable place to think freely and to dare to dream about the world of tomorrow together with our audience.

We play in Stadsschouwburg Utrecht, theaters and festivals throughout the country and our own theater De Paardenkathedraal. We organize various activities with the public and partners, such as public rehearsals, introductions, follow-up discussions, workshops, hangouts for young people, performances in the classroom and meetings between science, society and art.

Since September 2013, the company has been led by director and artistic director Thibaud Delpeut and general director Jacques van Veen. In addition to the performances by Thibaud Delpeut, we also present work by makers such as Naomi Velissariou, Davy Pieters, Casper Vandeputte and Espen Hjort. We share our Public Operation & Education department with DOX. Theater Utrecht is structurally subsidized by the municipality of Utrecht and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
